The 2nd Annual Posthumus Family Hoopfest is a special day dedicated to celebrating community spirit, skill development, and the love of basketball — all in honour of Chad Posthumus.
Hosted by the Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association (WMBA), this free, family-friendly event brings players, families, and fans together for a day of fun, connection, and shared passion for the game.
Hoopfest is designed for players of all ages to get active, learn new skills, and enjoy the energy of the basketball community.
This year’s event has been renamed in memory of Chad Posthumus, a proud Winnipegger and Winnipeg Sea Bears star who passed away on November 20, 2024, at the age of 33.
Chad’s impact on the court and in the community was immeasurable. His dedication, leadership, and love for the game continue to inspire the next generation of players.
The Posthumus Family Hoopfest is our way of celebrating that legacy — a day to come together, play hard, and share the joy that basketball brings to all of us.
We invite all WMBA players, coaches, and families to take part in this free community event. Come out to learn, connect, and honour one of Winnipeg’s own.
Whether you’re playing, cheering, or just enjoying the atmosphere — there’s a place for everyone at Hoopfest.
Hoopfest is free and open to all WMBA teams and players. While everyone is welcome, teams and individuals are asked to register in advance.
