Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association - Coaches Information
Thank you for coaching WMBA basketball! The time and effort that you commit is very much appreciated. Please review the following to ensure a positive coaching experience with the league and to uphold
the safety and well-being of all.
Coaching Requirements
Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association has the following 3 REQUIREMENTS for all coaches:
1. Criminal Record Check
Who: All Head Coaches only
Where: Register online as a coach in RAMP, and select the checkbox for a TRITON background check, if you have not provided a Winnipeg Police or RCMP Criminal Record Check to the WMBA in the last 5 years
Reimbursement: There is no cost - the WMBA will be billed directly
2. Child Abuse Registry Check (CAR) Form
Who: This form needs to be completed by all Coaches and Team Managers
Where: The form will be available ONSITE from the WMBA Gym Supervisor. It requires two pieces of identification. Please complete it and return it to the WMBA Onsite Gym Supervisor.
When: every 5 years
Reimbursement: No cost

Respect in Sport CertificationWho: This course is a provincial requirement for
all Coaches and Team ManagersWhere:

When: Certification expires 5 years from the course completion date

ALL Coaches must review, understand, and abide by the following throughout the WMBA season:

Zero Tolerance Policy:
Players, coaches or spectators are not allowed to challenge an Official’s decision, nor are they allowed to
make abusive comments to any individual in attendance. Violators will be asked to leave the gym, and
may be subject to further disciplinary measures, as per the WMBA Disciplinary Committee.
Fair Play Rule:
All players who attend an entire game must receive equal playing time in that game (unless illness/injury
prevents this from occurring). Teams must substitute players at all mandatory substitutions throughout
all League and playoff games. At the specified time, play will stop, and new players must be substituted
(if available).

Basketball Manitoba Super Coaches Clinic:
The Basketball Manitoba Super Coaches Clinic is free to all WMBA coaches. It's typically set for the 3rd weekend of October each year. There are always a number of great guest coaches to share their basketball experience
and wisdom. You must register on the Basketball Manitoba website in September/October to attend
Manitoba Basketball Coach Website:

-250+ youth skills & drill videos (12+ hours of material)
-10+ years of Basketball Manitoba Super Coaches Clinic videos (100+ hours of content)
-30+ hours of FIBA basketball officials and scorekeeper instructional videos
-Dozens of printed coaches' documents to help organize your team and program
-Resources connected to concussions and sport parent education
-500+ hours of full-length instructional streaming videos (with new videos added weekly)
-A search feature to find a specific skill or drill you are looking to add to your practices
-more content is being added all the time!
In order to view the information, you must be a Manitoba-based basketball coach and REQUEST ACCESS on the site to view it and have a Google-based email address to do so. If you have already requested access, you can view the content by simply logging in to your Google account & begin browsing the site.
