The Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association (WMBA) is a community-driven, non-profit youth basketball league. Here’s a closer look at what guides how we operate, who we serve, and why accessibility and development matter.
Every dollar supports youth basketball and Winnipeg community centres.
That’s why the WMBA offers some of the lowest fees in the city.
Every youth gets meaningful time on the court. No one is stuck on the bench.
Proudly serving Winnipeg families for 28 years.
A signature community event in memory of Chad Posthumus—bringing together players, families, coaches, and community centres for a free day of basketball fun.
Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association (WMBA) and Winnipeg School Division 1 have partnered to deliver a new Free program called “Girls Got Game” This program is targeted for girls from ages 9-14 years of age and funded by Jumpstart- a grant devoted to helping families and children in financial need to help cover the costs of participating in sport and recreation. Thanks to Jumpstart Charities, the WMBA has proudly funded the registration costs, gym rentals and jerseys for 36 players, across 3 teams for girls between the ages of 9-14. Not only have the costs been covered, but this program has also provided the environment for girls to learn team building skills, develop relationships amongst their teammates and help build their confidence that they can carry in other areas outside of the basketball court. .
It’s community. It’s growth. It’s giving back.
