HoopFest is an annual skills based competition held at the completion of the Fall / Winter season for WMBA community club players ages 5-11.  The event traditionally runs in late March following the completion of the Fall / Winter season.

HOOPFEST EVENTS

Long-Distance Shoot-Out
Launch as many 'treys' from behind the arc in 30 seconds! 

Free-Throw Shoot-Out
Test your shooting accuracy from the stripe with 8 free-throws!

Dribble-Drive Obstacle Course
Crossovers & behind the back.  Work your way through this timed dribbling obstacle course!

Speed-Lay-Ups
Take the ball to the rack!  30 seconds to score as many lay-ups.

Champion-Maker
Test your full-court endurance.

Full-Court Dribble Attack
Weak hand.  Strong hand.  Backwards & cross-over.  Speed counts!

Rapid-Fire Shooting
Crunch time!  Fire-up as many medium-range jumpers in 30 seconds.  

Target-Passing
Accuracy counts!  Test your passing against the target!

The course will take approximately 30-45 minutes to complete.

An ESTIMATION of when teams will be scheduled during the day is: 5-7 yr olds, 10am - 12pm; 8-9 yr olds, 11am - 3pm; 10-11 yr olds, 2pm - 5 pm;

  • An exact schedule will be released the week of the event.
  • Ribbons will be awarded to all participants.
  • You must be present to claim your prize.


TIMELINES

  1. HoopFest will start at 10:00 AM
  2. Teams will NOT be required to supply volunteers this year - they will be provided by the league.
  3. Players must register together as a team.
  4. The Coach will be responsible for keeping their team orderly and together, registering the players at the event and returning the completed scoresheet to the statistician.

SCORING
Prizes will be awarded to the top 5 competitors in each division. Top competitors in each event will also receive a prize.  Once a team has completed all 8 stations the scoresheet must be given to the statistician at the scorers table to tabulate the results.  Award presentations will take place in the West Gym at the U of Wpg Duckworth Centre.

REGISTRATION
All current WMBA teams, ages 5-11 can register for HoopFest.  Deadline to register for HoopFest 2010 is SATURDAY MARCH 13TH.  Players cannot register individually - only as a team through their coach. The event will be limited to the first 70 WMBA teams that register - so sign your team up today!




Be sure to include your team name, age division, coaches name, phone number & email and the names of the players attending.  Register today!

HOOPFEST NOTES...

  1. Each team is NOT required to provide 2 volunteers this year for HoopFest.
  2. Do not bring valuables with you to HoopFest!  We are not responsible for lost or stolen items!
  3. Teams should expect to be at HoopFest for at least 1 1/2 hours from the time scheduled to the time awards are presented.  Awards will be presented to each team when they complete the course.  The top player from each team will be asked to stay until the last team at a set age group has completed the course for a chance to be one of the top overall winners.  Your patience is appreciated towards our volunteers who are running the event!
  4. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each age category.  The decisions of league officials are final.
  5. There is to be no food or drink inside the gym area.
  6. Public washrooms are located on the second floor.
  7. Please keep the gym area clean by wiping your feet upon entry to the University and putting garbage in its place!
  8. The COACH will be taking the team through the different stations.
